The Chile Twister
Of all the appetizers I have done over the years, none of them have received the reviews and requests I get for more then the ABT (Atomic Buffalo Turds). I wrote an article for “Get Your Grill On” a couple of months ago on the preparation and techniques used to make these appetizers. Since […]
Pulled Pork & Jack Daniels Sweet Potato Muffins
This recipe is from the Cooking with Jack cookbook that I picked up while in Lynchburg, TN last year. Randy and I took a road trip last April to Mike and Debbie Davis’ Lotta Bull BBQ class. It was the first time either of us had been to Lynchburg, TN. Not only did we learn […]
Supermarket Product Review: Curly’s Pulled Pork
I’m not sure about other cities and other radio stations, but on Boston’s WEEI Sports Radio, I’ve been hearing a lot of commercials for Curly’s pulled pork. The commercials first appeared a few months ago, when none other than Don Zimmer started by saying how much he loved the barbecue restaurants in Boston when he […]

Big Green Egg Table
I’ve been mentioning the new Big Green Egg in my posts recently, but I’ve not done a story on it yet. The weekend before Christmas, we visited a hardware store going out of business. They had a new, large Egg priced as a medium, AND 30% off. It worked out that I got a large […]
Homemade Soda While you Grill
Upon receiving the Soda Club, I put it through its paces and worked up several beverages, including diet colas and fruit-enhanced beverages. The set-up was very simple and the directions gave clear and concise steps to set up the carbonizer.
The top feature is self control of the water source. You decide what you start with, […]
Duncan’s Grilled Drunken Chicken
This is my father in-law’s recipe and it produces one of the absolute best chicken flavors I have ever tasted. My father-in-law loves to BBQ and does so on the side for fun. He’s got the BBQ and only uses the best mesquite charcoal and the results are just fabulous works of flavorful food. I […]
Chicken with Maple, Walnut Wild Rice
After more than a week of not using the Big Green Egg, we broke it out tonight. Our boys’ favorite meal is barbecued chicken. Using four hickory chunks and lump charcoal, I preheated the Egg to 325 degrees. The chicken was seasoned with River City Smokehouse rub and sauced with Carribean Queen sauce.
The […]
Cedar Planked Salmon
I’ve done cedar planked scallops before on Get Your Grill On, but I wanted to add this, too. Why add salmon to the mix? There are a couple of reasons:
It’s very good
It’s very easy
Did I mention it’s very easy? And very good?
I was actually at a restaurant today in Cincinnati called Palomino’s, […]
