Jalapeno Pork Burger

Jalapeno Pork Burger Unless you are in Pork country like Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, etc., you probably haven’t encountered a pork burger. Same idea as the beef version, but made of pig. When cooked, it appears a bit more red or pink than beef. Texture is about the same since it’s just ground meat. Taste is, well, porky… and who doesn’t love pork?

The world’s largest pork burger was cooked at the 2006 World Pork Expo in held at the Iowa State Fair Grounds in Des Moines, Iowa.

Burger:
1 lb. ground pork
1 whole red jalapeno, seeded & diced
1 whole green jalapeno, seeded & diced
Mixed and split into two patties
** Needed more jalapeno **

Side: Sliced portabella mushrooms sauteed in butter and olive oil; dash of Worcestershire at the end.  The olive oil combined with the butter is used to raise the smoke point so the butter doesn’t burn in the pan.
Sauces: Mustard based sauce & Neely’s
