Something quick that soothes the smoky beast in you.

Smoky LoveI can’t speak for everyone, but I’m finding this year still darned cold. Sure I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we don’t have “real winters” here. Even so, when it’s 42, windy and loaded with wet humidity, I find it tough to saunter out in to the yard to fire up the grill. And by that I mean, start a fire using charcoaled wood.

Nothing says Spring like smelling a wood fire with burning flesh soon after. It sooths the wintery soul almost as well as a shot of good whisky. I figure if I can at least ‘feel’ as though it’s Spring, my psyche will let me rest another night. And grilling up a load of chicken does the trick, at least for me. I’d kinda like to know what ya’ll do for a quick smoky fix?

Fess, up! What you got?

Great pictures, Guy!

Thank you Adam. Of course shooting pictures of hickory, smoky, yummy chicken and fires makes it easier.

Had a nice time yesterday. I spent the afternoon instructing a 2nd generation vegetarian on grilling meat. We did lamb steaks, a chicken, flank steak, sirloin tip roast, a pound of bacon and a stuffed pork loin with bone in. Oh, and the bacon had the rind on. Every piece was wonderful!
