I PURCHASED MY FIRST TRAEGER WHEN JOE AND HIS WIFE WERE PROMOTING THERE FIRST GRILL IN 91' I JUST SOLD IT TO BY FRIEND WHEN MY WIFE BOUGHT ME A NEW TOP OF THE LINE EXECUTIVE GRILL FROM TRAEGER. I WENT TO MY DEALER TO GET A FEW THINGS AND LOW AND BEHOLD HE HAS USED BBQ'S......I HAD TO HAVE THE BIG TEX ON MY FRONT PORCH AS THE EXECUTIVE NOW DOMINATES THE BACK PATIO. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A TRAEGER YOU AIN'T BBQ-N .

You can add pellets to charcoal, but you can't get them wet. They expand about 10x when they get wet. I'd stick with wood chunks or chips. You'll get the same smoke with a lot less hassle. Pellets burn very quickly without proper air control.

A ridiculous question....Can I use pellets on charcoal? I have a charcoal smoker...I typically soak wood for a few hours in water and throw them on the coals.....can I do the same with the pellets? I assume on direct heat they'll burn too fast
