Rub of the Week #4

Hopefully by now you’ve had a chance to experiment with some of the rubs and get your own mojo workin!

This week is back to the basics. This is one of those rubs that you can start with as a base and then branch it out into many others for specific needs. This is what I consider the standard “Kansas City” style rub. Put this on your spare ribs and you will be one step closer to heaven…

KC BBQ Rub

  • 1 C Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 C Paprika
  • 3 TBS Black Pepper
  • 3 TBS Sea Salt
  • 2 TBS Chili powder
  • 2 TBS Garlic Powder
  • 2 TBS Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Cayenne

Instructions: Stir to mix, store in airtight container.

Application: Apply this rub liberally 6-8 hours before you cook. Allow the meat to marinate in it’s own juices.
